Golf Tournament Fundraiser

After suffering a severe traumatic brain injury from a head-on collision, Amy Schmidt was put in contact with SBIA when it was time to receive support. Amy took part in many of SBIA’s programs and found the help and support that SBIA provided her and her family was invaluable. However, in Amy’s opinion, the support needed for survivors, and especially those who care for survivors, isn’t great enough. This inspired Amy to do something grand for her community and fellow ABI survivors. On the 15th anniversary of her accident, Amy decided to host a golf tournament as a way to celebrate her life and raise money for SBIA so that others could receive support like she did when she needed it.

“I think it would have been pretty selfish to hold a party just for me, so I threw a golf tournament so we could have fun and give back to SBIA”.

The 2019 tournament included a best ball contest, silent auctions, 50/50’s, and two live bands-one of the performers also previously suffered a brain injury. By providing a donation following the golf tournament, Amy hopes to help SBIA provide more of the support the ABI community desperately needs. It is now her goal to make the golf tournament an annual event and move the date back a week so that it takes place in Brain Injury Awareness Month.

SBIA is pleased to help Amy and anyone who would like to raise funds by organizing an event to raise funds for SBIA. Without the support from those who participate in fundraising events, SBIA would not be able to continue to directly respond to requests from survivors all over Saskatchewan. We are so grateful for the energy Amy put into her golf tournament celebration.
