Kim - A Brain Boogie Ambassador
“Fundraising for the Brain Boogie gives me something to look forward to and gives me the opportunity to talk to people about brain injury.”
When Kim was 10-years-oldshewas in a car accident, which resulted in an acquired brain injury. After her accident, Kim began to look for new things to do to keep her busy during the days. She started to fundraise for SBIA, which helped her realize how much she loves to sell cookies and crafts that she makes. It keeps her busy even when she is not selling because she is either making items to sell or planning where she can go to sell them
“Having the opportunity to fundraise for SBIA has also given me the idea to fundraise as a business one day. I have a lot of fun making cookies and crafts, and it is very exciting when people buy them.”
Lately Kim has been thinking about other ways she can fundraise. This past July, her and her family decided to have a garage sale with all proceeds going to the Saskatchewan Brain Injury Association.
“I like raising money for SBIA because they have accepted me for who I am”.
Giving back to SBIA is important to Kim because the programs have been great, kept her busy, and also given her a group of people to sell her cookies to. Kim enjoys going to all the programs and retreats that SBIA puts on. Kim is a Brain Boogie Ambassador and has been one of our top pledge earners for the past few years. Her dedication to fundraising has allowed SBIA to provide the programming and retreats she loves to other brain injury survivors across Saskatchewan. She is eager to do all that she can to fundraise and give back to the Saskatchewan Brain Injury Association. If you haven’t tried her delicious cookies, you are missing out!
